With the advancement of technology at an untraceable pace, the entertainment industry in this field has now been classified for generations. Today, Ataris was a tremendous entertainment option for a generation in their thirties or upcoming.
Atari's golden age, which strangely coincides with the childhood years of this generation, continues to work with their adulthood. The children of the moment do not approach Atari very much. In all the passages I visited and chatted with the operators within the scope of my project, people in their thirties predominated. This situation, in a way, contradicts the "newest and best" perception in the consumer society.
If we were to talk about places, they usually stayed in the poor neighborhoods of the city. The reason for this is undoubtedly the places visited by individuals with low socio-economic status. Spaces are often neglected and do not bother to repair the deteriorated atrium. Atari also seems to have found a place in the demand balance. Currently, there are five halls in Istanbul. When I was a kid, there were only five in Kadıköy.
The aim of this project is about “witnessing history”, which is the main function of photography. These places, which will probably close completely after a few years, were indispensable for a generation. I dedicate this project to this generation.
