İsmail Tarhan was born in Istanbul/Kadıköy in 1988.

The artist, who lives in Antalya, graduated from Marmara University's Fine Arts Academy, Photography Department, which he entered in 2010, with the first place in the project. Afterwards, he entered Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University's Photography Department for his master's degree. In 2018, he completed his "Pedagogical Formation" education from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Educational Sciences.

He opened his first solo exhibition "childish things" at HERA, Istanbul / Kadıköy in 2015. He works have been exhibited in many galleries, festivals and fairgrounds such as Pera Museum, TÜYAP Art Fair, Istanbul Photography Gallery.

In his works, he often sees and uses the camera as a paint palette. Especially in his recent works, he focuses on recording the scenes he sees in nature with pictorial effects. He approaches the camera as the paint palette of an impressionist who goes out into nature to paint. Apart from the productions he makes in nature, he searches for and produces images with similar effects with the devices he sets up in his studio.

Currently living in Antalya, he is working on his master's thesis in addition to his teaching and freelance work.
